Aldol Condensation- simple question

You can get the condensation with either heat or acid (H3O+)?

My professor taught using them both at the same time. Usually it just shows heat though.

You can use base too. It can also happen if there is a benzene ring nearby b/c product will be conjugated w/ it

That extra stuff won't be on the DAT though right? I've never seen it done with a base or benzene ring in chad's videos, destroyer, bootcamp, or qvault

I think I saw it show up in Destroyer, and I don't know if it will be on your DAT. I'd be surprised if Chad's outlines/vids/quizzes never mentioned it. Regardless, the way the problem is set up along with the answer choices should allow you to figure it out if it comes up.
 
Yes. Either base with water or acid with water. If you use heat you will likely do elimination after aldol.
