Hey all. I've been pretty apprehensive lately about grades, specifically my science GPA. How many B+'s in science classes is too many? My overall GPA I'm not worried about: it's a 3.75. My BCPM grades, currently are as follows:

Gen chem 1: A-
Gen chem 2: B+
Gen Bio 1: A- or B+ (depending on how I do on our next exam)
Calc 1: A
Statistics: A or A-

My question is, if I were to keep getting B+'s in my science classes, does this come off as "weak academically" to medical schools when I apply eventually? Would I still be competitive?

Most medical schools have a filter for incoming applicants that scans your transcripts for grades of B+. Three or more is a red flag, and four or more is an automatic rejection.

I'm just kidding. You can have as many B+s as you want as long as you have a high cGPA, sGPA and MCAT. The average matriculant in 2013 had a cGPA of 3.69. The question you need to ask yourself is "how many B+s (graded as 3.3 by AMCAS) can you get and still have a 3.69"?

you're being a little neurotic right now. B+s are not death sentences!
