Hi all,

In amphetamine OD, why would you get dry mouth?
Also, this might seem trivial, but what would be the mechanism for the hallucinations? Someone please explain. Thanks.

not totally sure about the dry mouth but my guess would be, like other sympathomimetic drugs it has some antimuscarinic or anticholinergic effects?

As for the hallucinations, I would assume it's due to the excess dopamine.

Saliva production is primarily parasympathetic. Vasodilation > increased flow (rest and digest).

Sympathetic saliva is less and has higher osmolarity because it vasoconstricts > increased velocity away from the glands.

Also, I know there is overlap.. but I thought hallucinations were from serotonin (LSD, PCP, Ecstacy)

Good luck
