Anesthesiology in Palliative Care?

Pain fellowship combined with Palliative Care fellowship? Anyone heard of this before? I believe that anesthesiology can really advance and contribute to the field of palliative medicine especially in acutely ill patients.

Potential in certain pain procedures carrying over to the pain management of dying patients???

Make sense to me, since pain is the most feared subject in the terminally ill patients. I also see palliative care as a very rewarding and gratifying field.

There actually exists (or used to exist) a board-eligible/board-certifiable palliative care fellowship for anesthesiologists. Fact is, most anesthesiologists probably don't want to be involved in this area of medicine because (a) it's depressing and (b) it doesn't pay well.
