SS, DS, +/-, linear, segmented, naked, helical, round??? :eek: :eek: :eek:

any help is appreciated. of course we should all know basics like parvo b19 and rotavirus as exceptions, and HHHAPP DNA virus... don't know where to go from there..... :confused: :confused: :confused: :scared: :scared: :scared:

SS - Only Paul Bunyan can Fill Rhabdo Arena

Orhtomyxovirus
Paramyxovirus
Bunyavirus
Filovirus
Rhabdo virus
Arean virus

Naked DNA viruses: you need to be naked to get a PAP smear
Papova, adeno, parvo

Naked RNA viruses: genes need to be naked to get a PCR
Picorna, Calici, Reo

hope that helps,

for RNAs
a bun and an arena are round, delta (D ) looks like a circle
therefore bunyaviruses,arenaviruses,deltaviruses are circular viruses.
more mnemonics
picoRNAviruses---->PERCHA
( poliovirus,echovirus,rhinovirus,coxsackievirus,Hepatitis A)
caliciviruses = cal"E"c"E"viruses----->hep.E
togaviruses ( thug is rebellious ) --->rubella
rhabdoviruses------>rabies ( rhabies ) bullet shaped capsid,Negri bodies
coronaviruses ------> common cold ( corona beer should be served cold )
Deltaviruses ------> hep D
Positive (+) polarity :THUG PICks CORONA beer in a CALICe while listening to positive RETRO ( toga/picoRNA/corona/calici/retoviruses
rubeOla = original measles---rubella = german measles

DNA viruses
PoXviruses = X-large boX = largest dna virus with envelope
Herpesviruses- HepaDNAviruses are enveloped viruses --------> H looks like a square box :)

any comments?

Hey dude...I am studying the micro stuff in from the kaplan books right now.
So far memorizing all those stupid viruses (almost 18 groups..with many more subgroups) have been the hardest to memorize from all of micro.

Do you guys agree that it is hard??
