In pittsburgh area there are 2 psych residencies; U of Pittsburgh and West Penn Allegheny Health System. U of Pitt is quite stable, but there have been issues with the West Penn system. Most recently West Penn is trying to merge with Highmark insurance company. Does anyone know of the stability of the West Penn program? If the merger doesn't go through and they are short on cash, wouldn't the money loosing services like psychiatry be cut first?
