So I've heard a relative of a friend was offered 600k for a general practice associateship in a cosmetic dental clinic. She came from an Ivy league dental school. How common is this and what does one have to do to get this?

Not common at all, if even true. I don't mean to be flippant, but stories like this just serve to perpetuate ridiculous expectations for pre-dents. Keeping healthy optimism is good, these forums are littered with doom 'n gloom stories dripping with pessimism, but this is just over the top.

Why don't you just directly ask your friend's relative? cant really get a more straightforward answer than directly from the person.

there's a lot of details that could be muddled.
i.e:
1. 600k contract over 4 years
2. she's at an associateship at a clinic that makes 600k a year
3. she's taking over a clinic that has a price tag of 600k
etc.
