Balance of Credits and ECs

I may know the answer to this question but I'm going to ask it anyway. Is it that important to take large credit loads (18 credits) while maintaining ECs? Or is taking 15 or 16 credits enough while involved in several ECs?

No one will be overly concerned about your course load from one semester to another. 15-16 credits are fine.
