Does anyone have any comments about Banner Health teaming with MD Anderson to open this cancer center near Phoenix, AZ? I am scheduled to interview with the Banner internal med program (considering applying to heme/onc fellowships later).

How significant do you think this is in terms of comprehensive cancer care in the state of AZ?

Would you consider this an immediate draw for people like me, interested in heme/onc, and applying to the Banner Good Samaritan IM program?

No.

Just to put this in perspective, they have been advertising for the required positions (surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists) for this new center for the past year. Brand-new centers may take years to acquire experienced personnel, grant money, patient volume, resources, etc. I am not confident that a brand-new center is necessarily the best place to receive your training.
