So, I'm living, studying and working in a third world country, I've been asked to procure some ENT diagnostic equipment for a hospital, their current ones are old/damaged and they want to buy a load of new ones, I've been asked to find the best European brand of ENT diagnostic equipment and go out to purchase them. I thought where best to find out about the brands from the specialists using them. (I'm also a medical student so ya know). So let me know which European brands are best for otoscopes/ophthalmoscopes etc. (price is not a huge issue, although ridiculously priced brands wont be viable, but you know average prices)

Tdlr; need to purchase a load of ENT diagnostic Equipment, need to know what are the best brands.

Kind regards.

... otoscopes/ophthalmoscopes etc...

That is an interesting situation. I think it really depends on the specific instrument list you are looking to fill. "Diagnositic equipment" is pretty vague. Who is going to be using the equipment, and why don't they know what they need?

As far as otoscopes, I don't think I've used anything other than a Welch-Allyn otoscope, but they are based in the US. I haven't used ophthalmascopes very often, but they are also Welch Alyyn pretty much everywhere I have been.

Karl Storz is a German brand that comes to mind that I have used. They generally make high quality stainless steel ENT instruments. Forceps, currets, suctions, mirrors. Do you know what you need in this category? Anything?

Are they asking you to find endoscopy equipment, also?

How many instruments would you need?

You need to go through a sales rep for most purchases. You really need to have an idea of what you need or you are going to be oversold. I am not sure who's money you would be potentially wasting. This whole situation sounds a little strange. Just words of caution in case you are just trying to help out a 3rd world hospital. Frankly, it would be a lot smarter to have whoever is going to use the equipment make the orders.

Primum non nocere
