i have family there and i've spent a lot of time there.
currently the city itself is in financial trouble. just about bankrupt if not yet bankrupt already. UAB should be mostly unaffected by this.
good upcoming music scene. even before american idol . good restaurants.
fantastic bbq. church is big business there. really big. people wont ask you where you goto school, they'll ask you where you goto church. that part is sad, really.
i applied to UAB but have still yet to hear anything.

Yea, I've heard the city is rough. But I have heard, like Memphis, there is a "good" side of town. Thanks for the reply. Anyone else?
