I am really wondering what a letter of interest/intent is and if it really has any effect on your application or chance of getting off of a wait list? I feel like they should know you are very interested in the school because you interviewed there, and it just seems like writing them letters only makes it seem like you are begging for a spot.

Can someone elaborate on these letters and answer some of the questions I asked?

You can find examples of LOI's online. Plus, you ARE begging for a spot aren't you?

Great questions. If someone has any experience with these it would be great if they could chime in and provide their opinions. Thank you to all for taking out the time to do so 🙂

What is that supposed to mean? No I'm not begging anyone for anything. Begging is a petty term and I don't appreciate you commenting on here if you were not going to post constructive advice. It is obvious I can search for an example on Google but I was looking more for advice from pre-dents that have written a letter of intent or had some success with them. Next time please keep the comments to yourself. Thank you.

Whoa there. I didn't mean for it to be a negative comment. But that's essentially what you are doing with a LOI. You're at the mercy of the dschool. Not the other way around.

teethfordays was trying to give you advice that you asked for. why are you jumping down his/her throat? There's no need to be a sassy pants.

dang that sounds straight up demeaning to someone who gave advice. messed up just because you got interviews.

Well I realize that now but don't you see how it can come across a tad bit demeaning when he says "you are begging for an acceptance?" I simply asked what it was about I didn't say I was going to write one nor did I say whether or not I was even wait listed at a particular school. Teeth for days I apologize for getting annoyed, but it sounded like you were insincere in your original post, which can obviously happen when things are read over text vs hearing them verbally from someone.

Toasted, if you are not going to respond to my original post asking for help then i respectfully request that you don't respond at all. There is absolutely no point in you jumping in here and calling me a "sassy pants" haha. Please leave your comments to yourself and refrain from commenting if you are not going to answer the question. Why does everyone always get on my damn case for asking for or trying to give help?

im not trying to get on your case but have you used to the unlv equation to caclulate your score? you mind telling what you got assuming you got 100% on your interview part? i was told that anything below 50 has no chance of acceptance and 50-55 is is iffy.

shoot timmy do you remember what the equation is real quick? I forgot to calculate it and i was going to do so but I'm not sure i know exactly where the packet is

scored a 49, my 17RC really killed me, i have a 21 qr and 20 bio but a 17 oc, i wish they took pat into account because i scored a 22.... AND i really got unlucky with the student interviewer. He was so hard to hold a conversation with it was really frustrating. He seemed like he didn't want to be there and leave as soon as possible and he only asked me like one or two questions. It is so frustrating when you get people like that especially because it is completely out of your hands and it is just the luck of the draw.

Can you share this equation with the rest of us? Is this the equivalent of LizzyM scores for dental schools?

RSalha17, I think you may find this post helpful: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showpost.php?p=554436&postcount=6

It's from the pre-medical forum, but I think the information is pretty much the same as what a pre-dental person would give you. Good luck, I am keeping my fingers crossed for you! :xf:
