I initially picked E but then seems incorrect... But dens invaginatus may also be associated with supernumerary teeth although the most common is lateral incisors and centrals... and ideas here?? Please share refs

6.B :xf:
Why not c. Plaque here??Is presence of plaque of value only for periodontal health??

7.D
(would the overbite be the same??)

8.A:thumbup:
Please check and comment 2, 5, 6 and 7

I think except for option 1 .. 2, 3 ,4 are correct ..therefore my answer is C - 2 and 4
pls check pg 14 Q 1
The incision should be large enough to allow drainage...you may extend the incision to involve more planes...thus the limit of the incision is determined by pathology as opposed to the drain...makes sense??
Hope this is cool!

hello dr DENEVISTAS
i think the answer of Q4 page 15 is E
i THINK IT can't be undergone root canal treatment as it is obliterated
i think the answer is E
your reply please

1.B:thumbdown:
My ans - A. Ref: By looking at the ossification and development ofthe carpal bones of the wrist, the metacarpals ofthe hands and the phalanges of the fingers the orthodontist can have an idea about the chronology of skeletal development. Comparing the overall pattem observed in the hand-wrist radiograph, with age standards in a reference atlas, does this.

Why not B. Bcoz: Hand-wrist radiographs are less useful in evaluating whether growth has stopped or is continuing (patient's position on growth curve). It is reliable but NOT precise!

2. A

3. B?
I picked A. here. Why would pulp pathology affect heat generated? My ans - A.

Q5 ( GTR ) - Any reference ???
Havent found a ref for 5...do share folks if any1 finds one!

hello dr DENEVISTAS
i think the answer of Q4 page 15 is E
i THINK IT can't be undergone root canal treatment as it is obliterated
i think the answer is E
your reply please

Obliterated canals are not a contraindication to root canal treatment. the canals seem obliterated on radiographs...but there may be thin canals. so RCT shold be done unless you want to risk capping and later having to do and RCT...so id stick with A for now...

there must be some pulp pathology to cause discoloration of the tooth and obliteration...so that should be treated as per my understanding...

hope this helps! :)

Page 18
1.B:thumbdown:
My ans- D. lymphocytic

the number of lymphoblasts are increased and lymphocytic and lymphoblastic is sometimes sed interchangeably. Granulocytes are mature cells and granulocytic leukemia would refer to these mature cells as opposed to immature lymphoblast cells!!

7.B:thumbup:
My ans....check 6

Q.5 - Confused between C & D ,
I believe the fistula could arise from a neighboring tooth SO JUST TO RULE THAT OUT AND MAKE SURE IT IS INDEED ASSOCIATED WITH THE NON VITAL TOOTH YOU SHOULD TRACE IT USING THE gp. so C IS CORRECT!

Q 6 - Confused between B & D
Picked B here. Just playing on words...so for me space is CREATED, while the preparation should HAVE a definite finish line...
Hope this helps..

PS: Sorry about the caps****

Q 5
Guided tissue regeneration surgery selectively
promotes the growth of all of the following
EXCEPT
A. epithelial cells
B. endothelial cells.
C. osteoblasts.
D. cementoblasts.

I think the answer would be (D)
as Guided tissue regeneration is used to promote the healing process of the bone and soft tissue of the periodontal ligament
so there's no way to cementoblasts

dear doctors
in page 19 Q5
A fistula found in association with a non-vital
tooth should be
1. cauterized to remove the epithelium.

on a radiograph.
3. treated with combined surgical and
nonsurgical root canal therapy.
4. treated with nonsurgical root canal
therapy.
A. (1) (2) (3)
B. (1) and (3)
C. (2) and (4)
D. (4) only
E. All of the above
he mentioned that the fistula is associated to a nonvital tooth

Page 5 Q 2

A zinc oxide and eugenol cement placed
beneath a metallic restoration serves as a
1. thermal insulator. correct
2. electrical insulator. reference for this ??
3. cavosurface margin seal. correct.. but not applicable in this case
4. medicinal benefit to the pulp. Correct

A. (1) (3) (4)
B. (2) (3) (4)
C. (1) (2) (4)
D. (1) (2) (3)

pls confirm

ZOE is the best thermal and electrical inslator. The fact thAt galvanissm is absent when bases are used is evidence to electrical insulation....

ZOE will not provide cavosurface margin seal for restorations which is why zinc phosphate and GIC are used..

makes sense to answer C 1,2,4 here?

Pharoah and white says that the alveolar crest is seen 1.5 mm away from the CEJ in radiographs. I would trust that over decks...see chapter dealing with landmarks! or under alveolar crest..

hope this helps

Make ur choice:
Ref for C: http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/compensating+curve

Ref for A is logical reasoning.
Ref for D. is the reasoning below and

5.A:thumbup:
6.E:thumbup:
7.D
My ans C.
I dont think that indirect capping is considered when caries are not deep so removal of caries AT DEJ (far from the purview of IPC) doesntseem correct. Also, IPC means use of Ca(OH)2, no other material is used...so option B is redndant. Id thus go with C.

q4 my ans is A ref http://books.google.co.il/books?id=...6AEwBw#v=onepage&q=compensating curve&f=false

True!! as compensating curve(s) compensate for all the curves (spee, monson, wilson, A seems the more logical answer. However its function is to ensur contact in centric and eccentric positions basically so i am not sure if its function is to do that ONLY when there is mandi protrusion, as in option A. Id hav maybe answered D as the question is incomplete!!
