Change Secondary Essays from last year?

I know its important that if you're reapplying, you should change the personal statment from previous year but what about the essays on the secondaries? should we follow the same priniples for them as well ?

Also, are you supposed to change your PS because they compare your new one and your old one, or is it just to make a better one in general?
