Current med students:
1. How important do you feel club involvement is during med school as it relates to residency down the line?

2. I've been hearing a lot about physician mentors and some schools even assigning mentors. Any med students have experience with this? How did you manage to find one?

I tried some forums and couldn't find good answers... Thanks!

I can't say as for residency benefits, but I know it helps you see who in your class is interested in what you are as well as putting you in touch with the faculty heads, who are an extremely valuable resource as far as direction or how to pursue your dream.

Additionally, student clubs often get discounted rates to conferences. Where possible, go to the conferences! It's at the conferences that you'll meet residency directors and doctors who might be potential elective rotations/shadowing experiences/mentors.
