Hey everyone!
I'm posting to give information on the Christian Ophthalmology Society's 43rd annual meeting this summer which is being held in Kansas City July 31st - August 4th. If you haven't heard of our organization before, we are a group of Christian Ophthalmologists who seek to support each other in the excellent practice of Ophthalmology as well as in our Faith.
Ophthalmology Residents,Fellows and Medical Students going into Ophthalmology whose program does not give them full financial assistance to attend will receive stipends to make their cost of meeting registration and their hotel room for the meeting free, other than transportation costs. Practicing Ophthalmic missionaries can also attend for free.
All that is required to receive the stipend is to submit an application to the annual "Super Bowl of Grand Rounds" which is a rapid-fire style of 5 minute grand rounds presentations of interesting cases. Not all cases will be chosen to be presented, but even if you aren't chosen to present - you still get to come to the meeting for free! There will also be a poster display and presentation opportunity, so if you have a project or study you'd like to display at a national meeting, you are welcome to display that as well.
More information and grand application links can be found on our website: COSW.org . At the top right you'll find links for information on the 2019 meeting.
This meeting is family friendly and spouses and children are welcome as well. We have a lot of popular returning events like the MIGS wet lab and "Shark Tank" for Ophthalmic surgical innovations! The Annie Moses Band will be giving a concert on Saturday night. If you're curious as to what type of presentations will be happening during the day you can watch a lot of the videos from last year's meeting on our LiveStream Archive here.
Anyone on the forum who has attended before, feel free to chime in with your experiences!
