Do you guys think a really light course load during the semester you study for the mcat looks bad? say 11-12 hours?

It depends on the semester. If you are in your junior year then it might be a big deal for schoolsthat require a full classload for admission. You could always take it in August.

I'm only taking 12 hours (3 classes+3 labs) by far my lightest courseload so far but I'm also working 35+ hours a week and studying for the MCAT. I wouldn't worry about it too much just make sure you do well on the MCAT and I doubt an adcom will even notice, much less mention, your light courseload this semester.

15 hours...doing easy science classes, research, and taking a social science (I consider it "preparing" for VR).

I am kinda required to take at least 15 hrs/semester BTW.
