Creating Stories to Help Recall Information

As I continue to study, I notice that it is pretty easy for me to forget certain information that I do not find interesting or I consider "dry", which is not surprising at all.

I have heard that attaching a story to information can drastically help recall. Can anyone elaborate? Any techniques you guys found helpful for increasing recall of the more uninteresting information?
