After careful deliberation, I have decided to make the career change into medicine. It's a passion I've always had but couldn't follow-through on earlier due to the financial troubles associated with attending school for many more years. Due to financial constraints, I would really love to attend an accelerated 12-18 month program. I wanted to share my stats and ask for advice on what I can do to get into the top-tier programs (Bryn Mawr, Goucher, JHU, Scripps):
- Rising senior with 3.9 GPA at a top 5 undergrad business program
- 31 ACT
- Intern at a top-tier consulting firm working on healthcare-related strategy projects
- Published medical paper in college from a project started in high school
I've taken no pre-med courses, but plan on doing some introductory science courses that don't fulfill the pre-med requirement. I also plan on shadowing a physician this coming semester.
What are my relative chances and what else would you recommend that I do? Thanks for your help!
