Just curious if anybody had any insight to what the day to day life is like for an oral pathologist. Is it only sitting behind a microscope all day and looking at slides? Are there any opportunities where an oral pathologist can work with a hospital and see patients and diagnose some conditions, in addition to looking at slides. Also, what is the residency like? What types of things can you do in dental school to set yourself up well for pursuing that residency? Any and all information is appreciated

I'm very curious as well. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Many work in academia (or at least part time). You need the referral for those cases and that requires making a name for yourself through teaching or CE and enough work so larger cities is ideal. Some programs will give you a specialty in oral medicine and oral pathology so you can do both the laboratory side of things and the patient care.
