Hey guys, what are the chances of really obtaining a residency after dental school? Is it really competitive? Any advise?

20% of dentists are specialists. As for your personal chances of admission... well, that depends on how hard you are willing to work.

All specialties are competitive, some more than others. Here is the order from hardest to easiest. Endo, Ortho, OMS, Pedo, Perio. To give you a baseline I was talking to the head of the perio department at my school and he said that a 3.5 GPA is competitive for perio. If you want to specialize you should remember that board scores are just as important as class ranking. 90s may not be required for pedo and perio but you will need that to be competitive for anything else. I hope this helps.

I'm only interested in GP because once I come out, the plan is to work with my uncle. Soooo does that mean that if I don't want to specialize then once I get into dental school I really just need to pass my courses/board exams and I would be fine?

which specialists specializes in bleaching?

I believe that belching can be done by any trained dentist. I think there are some home belching kits that one can buy from the grocery store as well. They will teach you how to belch your teeth.

HOLY CRAP----belching teeth-----
