Dermatology Clinical Research Fellowship 2011-2012: Dr. David Pariser
The Clinical Research Fellowship with Dr. David Pariser is a 1-year research position with the opportunity for a second year. This is a well established research position with 100% of fellows continuing into a dermatology residency program. This position is available to MD’s who are trying to match into dermatology, or who have already matched and have a year before the start of residency.

Dr. David Pariser was the 2009-2010 American Academy of Dermatology President, is a Professor in the Dermatology Department at Eastern Virginia Medical School, the President of Pariser Dermatology Specialists (private practice), and the President of Virginia Clinical Research Inc. He has been actively involved in dermatology clinical trials for over 20 years. The fellow will work directly under Dr. David Pariser, but will also work with Dr. Robert Pariser and Dr. Cyndi Torosky, all partners in Pariser Dermatology Specialists and Professors at Eastern Virginia Medical School.

The overall aim of the Fellowship is to educate a potential dermatologist in all aspects of clinical research from the inception of the study protocol to the publication of the results. The fellow works as a sub-investigator and as a member of Virginia Clinical Research Inc. The fellow is involved in both investigator-initiated studies and Pharmaceutical sponsored studies. The realm of dermatologic diseases studied at Virginia Clinical Research is constantly expanding, but generally includes trials studying psoriasis, acne, lichen planus, onychomycosis, alopecia, hidradenitis suppurativa, eczema, and atopic dermatitis. The fellow is involved in all ongoing clinical trials, which will include about 10-15 per year on average. The fellow will also have to opportunity to interact with the Residents and Staff in the Dermatology Department at Eastern Virginia Medical School at events such as Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, and large regional conferences. The fellow will have the opportunity to attend the educational sessions of the Dermatology Department at EVMS and at least one major Dermatology meeting per year.

We prefer that applicants have completed a PGY-1 year by July of 2011, but applicants MUST have taken Step 3 before the start of the program. Pay and benefits are commensurate to PGY-1 level.

Interested applicants should submit the following information: letter of interest, updated CV, list of references, copy of your Dean’s letter, and a copy of your USMLE step I score and II. Please submit these materials to current research fellow, Dr. Stefanie Hirano, at [email protected].

We welcome and will review all competitive applicants.
