An unknown compound dissolves in H20 spontaneously. Tempreture decrease

Now I would assume since tempreture decreases it means it an exothermic reaction rite?

but destroyer says its endothermic?

This concept of GC still confuses me, but I just managed to memorize it.

If it was exothermic, heat is released, so then the solution becomes hot because heat was released. aka temperature increased.

If it was endothermic, heat is absorbed, so then the solution becomes cold because heat was absorbed. aka temperature decreased.

exothermic-evolves(releases) heat to the surrounding. therefore, it heats up
endothermic-suck heat from the surrounding, therefore, it cools down.
 
if the temperature of the water (surroundings) decreases it's losing heat. the lost heat is being put into the compound (system). putting heat in to the system is endo
