Do I have to be enrolled at my university in order to take Step 2 CS?

I might be doing an MBA during between my 3rd and 4th year of medical school, and someone told me that I cannot take step 2 CS while I am enrolled in the MBA program; I can only take it while I am enrolled in medical school and have passed step 1 and completed 3rd year clerkships. Is this correct, or can I take it whenever I want as long as I have passed step 1 and 3rd year clerkships?

Usually if this is an MD/MBA program, your school will have you do a rotation or some sort of work to maintain your enrollment. All my gap classmates have taken CS and CK during their time away.
