Hey everyone,
Im currently a 3rd year student at a Ross U (caribbean) and planing to scedule my electives for the 4th year. Ive heard a lot of rumors about completing electives at a DO vs MD hospitals like a maximum of 14 weeks at DO hospital or future problems in terms of obtaining residency spots, etc...
Im planning to obtain residency in the west/southwestern united states...does any know of any pitfall that comes with doing elective rotations at a DO hospital (in california to be exact)????

thanks

The problem is that some states frown on allopathic students doing rotations at osteopathic schools/hospitals. Check with the State Medical Board in California before doing the electives to make sure the time will count toward that required to apply for a California license (assuming you wish to do a residency there).

Contact information can be found in the Cali link at http://www.fsmb.org
