Business casual is probably more appropriate than a suit! Enjoy your open house

The ones I've been to, it was a mix of business casual (non-denim pants, dressier sandals or other shoes, no sneakers) and casual (jeans, sandals, sneakers). Haven't seen any suits yet at these.
I usually play it safe and go w/business casual.
