Hi all,

I was reviewing Kaplan anatomy and seems like there is a conflicting information with regard to the nerve innervation for ejaculation.

In their histology section, it says ejaculation is controlled by both sympathetic (lumbar splanchnic) and somatic motor efferent (pudendal), but in male anatomy section it says:

Emission: sympathetic nervous system stimulation (lumbar)

Ejaculation: somatic motor efferent (pudendal)

So would it be wrong to say ejaculation is controlled by sympathetic?

Emission: sympathetic nervous system stimulation (lumbar)

Ejaculation: somatic motor efferent (pudendal)
that is all you need to know in regards to that topic, also know was PSN does.

so the pudendal is relevant in ejaculation because of its innervation to the external urethral sphincter, right?

yup, sphincter urethrae external urethral sphincter is controlled by pudendal nerve.

But the internal urethral sphincter is controlled by lumbar splanchincs which is sympathetic.
