Does anyone have any advice for acing Embryology? Not just passing, but rocking it.

At my school, the people have problems with embryo are usually the people who blow it off, and the temptation to blow it off is big. My advice would be to keep up, especially during the early material. Embryo's a class where they lay down the foundation for the class in the first few weeks, and if you miss that, you'll have an uphill battle. Just don't blow it off and take it seriously from the start, and you should be OK.

Know how to think in 3D really well.

There is a program called MacBaby that I found super helpful in getting the 3D concepts which is usually the most difficult part. I agree that the hardest part is not blowing it off if you are taking it concurrently with more difficult courses. We had it with Gross and Histo, I usually didn't study embryo untill a few days before and exam and I missed a HP by one point in the end . . . I wish I had just spent a few more hours on it but I was sooo tweaked out about my gross final . . . I ended up doing amazing on gross and I totally could have spared a bit of time for poor embryo.

the first 30 days are all that really matter i feel... everything else is easy and crammable

try simbryo, i really loved it for its cartoons and visualization. visualization is your key, knowing which side is which, etc. and what perspective you're looking at... esp with respect to the neural tube and all of that stuff

yeah i agree with the above poster

visualizing helps a lot. i also second the simbryo program.

The best thing about Simbryo is the music. It makes me feel like I am either in a 1. swanky lounge or 2. a porno.

is simbryo a program you buy in the form of cd or is this a free online program...

PORNO ALL THE WAY

Ditto on the porn music.

Simbryo is a CD that comes with the Langman text BTW. You may be able to find it elsewhere.

Another Q that baffled me--it's Langman's Embryology by Sadler. What's up with that? Did Langman write it or Sadler?

Our exam questions were very old, but the book goes into some detail regarding Hox genes and what not. Does anybody know what level of detail the molecular stuff is required for step 1?
