Are there DO ENTs that are working on the west coast in states like CA, WA, CO, NV? After residency, can a DO ENT move wherever he/she wants to and practice or are DO ENTs restricted to the midwest/east coast where the AOA ENT programs are located at?

You can get a job anywhere. There is a large demand for ENTs.

Sure, I have seen a few DO ENT in our preceptor database in California. What makes you believe you can't get a job once you're a licensed physician? I don't know where all these magical myths come from. Once you enter residency, you're no different than our MD colleagues with perhaps the rare exception of top academic institutions.

And private specialty groups with decent partner tracks.

Out here, DO cardiologists are cornered into doing their own solo outpatient practice or becoming a hospital employee as most private groups will laugh you out of the room when you approach them without an ABMS cert.

The specialists and surgeons are real particular about having the necessary qualifications.

Depends what part of Cali I suppose. My area would kill for another cardiologist. There just aren’t enough in the area

Do you mean AOA trained cardiologists? Because it wouldn’t make sense to me to discriminate based purely on the initials if the training was completed at an ACGME program.

What imaginary place is this? Because I have honestly never encountered a DO specialist with this problem

DOs can and do have abms certification the same as MDs.

Both NYC and LA. AOA training is getting less and less recognized. You basically only come out fine if you did family med.

NYC is even more extreme than LA in that, even AOIBM cert is treated as a joke
I spent years in LA and know several physicians in that area. I do not agree at all with your assessment.

You think DOs are matching ACGME ENT?

Your post mentioned cardiologist. Yes I know plenty of DOs that match acgme IM and then go on to do a cardiology fellowship.

And lol that you basically only come out fine as a DO if you train in family medicine. I'm on the east coast, but know several DOs that have moved out to CA that are surgeons, obgyns, cardiologists, pediatricians and hospitalists, etc.

I know several DO opthalmologists who practice in LA and did AOA residencies.
