B is correct. The question is asking us what physiological conditions would lead to the SAME response as what is observed during alcohol consumption. Based on the passage, we know that alcohol decreases the amount of water reabsorbed by the kidney. This means consuming alcohol increases the amount of water excreted in the urine, which would help lower blood pressure. The kidney decreases water reabsorption to increase blood osmolality and decrease blood pressure, so the effects of alcohol would be similar to its response to low blood osmolality and high blood pressure, making choice B correct.

As described in the passage, the kidney’s response to alcohol consumption is most similar to its response to:

A.
low blood osmolality and low blood pressure.

B.
low blood osmolality and high blood pressure.

C.
high blood osmolality and low blood pressure.

D.
high blood osmolality and high blood pressure.

i go it correct but i dont get this line
The kidney decreases water reabsorption to increase blood osmolality and decrease blood pressure,

If the kidney decreases the amount of water reabsorbed, the total amount of fluid in the circulatory system decreases. This decreases the overall blood pressure.

With less overall fluid, the osmolality (salt / volume) increases because the volume term has decreased.
