I noticed there was a recent discussion re h-bonding but just to clarify...
molecules with F-H, O-H, N-H bonds can H-bond with themselves or water. Ketones, aldehydes, ethers can H-bond with water, despite not having an H bonded to the oxygen, but not with themselves. Is this accurate? Am I missing anything? (I'm a nontrad and my O-chem is antique). Thanks all!

This is correct. each of the above functional groups have H bond acceptors, but they do not have H bond donors. because they only have half of the equation, they can't H bond with themselves.
