I know that di,tripeptide absorption is faster than free amino acids. But why? Suddenly bumped to into it.. Is proton gradient stronger than sodium-aa cotransporters or is it because di,tri peptides are hydrolyzed into amino acids and this creates another gradient for di,tri peptides but lowers the gradient for amino acids between the lumen and the intracellular portion of enterocytes?

Bump, I have the same question...I thought with the smaller MW amino acids would be faster absorbed.
