So as we near application/interview season I thought I would post a topic of a lighter nature...

I've noticed that a lot of radoncs are left handed? Anyone else notice this?

I can contour with my left and right hand…albeit my right is my strong side:)

I've met a radonc who's an amputee. I know another one who has essential tremor.

Only the weird ones!

Lefty. When I was in residency I think 5 of 12 attendings were lefties.

Many radiation oncologists switch from being right handed to being left handed.

It's because of the endless hours we spend on contouring with our right hand using the mouse, that we eventually decide to use our left hand.

On a similar note, there is a very significant gender disporportion in the children of male attendings, physicists, and even therapists in my department . . . several guys are 3/3 or even 4/4 for female children.

I have joked for years that low doses of radiation must preferentially destroy sperm with Y chromosomes!
