Harvard-Longwood Residency Gradually Separating to BWH and BIDMC Starting in 2017

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
That title is not quite accurate...

Nothing will change for those applying to the program this year / starting in 2016. Anyone who matches this year will go through Harvard Longwood and get the full combined experience of training at both Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). It will be the same great program for you! Of note, The Massachusetts Mental Health Center will remain affiliated with Longwood and also both the BWH and BIDMC programs so there will remain a strong community psychiatry experience for everyone in addition to training at either academic medical center with both offer an inpatient psychiatric unit, psychiatry outpatient services, psychiatry consult service, emergency department that sees many psychiatric patients, superb research opportunities, and of course many other unique features. This change will begin in 2017 and be a gradual transition, not a split, through year 2020.
