I’m learning that SC requires an oral examination for their licensure. Has anyone taken this oral exam and can offer any study tips or best practices to prepare?

Hi I did. Most of it was just knowing ethics and your CE requirements.

Thank you! Was it open ended questions you respond to orally? I feel so nervous about it because apparently if you fail you have to wait six months until you can retake it.

No it was close ended, from what I recall. I did it over zoom. the person who did mine was super nice and chill!

I am Lic in SC. Go to the South Carolina Board of Examiners in Psychology website. Download the Psychology Practice Act and Psychology Regulations. That is all you need to know.

The oral exam is very easy. I don't know anyone who has failed. You will be interviewed by another Psychologist. It is a very friendly discussion. We are really just doing a final check to make sure you aren't way out there. :) You will be asked some easy questions (e.g., how many CEU credits do you need per year, how many persons can be under your supervision, etc.), and the answers are in these handouts.

Good luck!
