Will customs let them pass? What about security checks? Think about it and check with the school before you spend your money. :)

Hi Azuree as far the books and instruments regarding advanced standing program..(i don't know about prostho) at BU is concerned ,They ask you to buy all the inst and books from their store..even if you have some beforehand still you'll have to buy the whole package..
so you better confirm with them before wasting your money..

these schools already charge you an arm and a leg on tuition and then dont allow you to do any saving on the stuff you can.
thank god at least housing is upto us. next thing you know they'll make campus residences a must!

about bringing in the instruments...i doubt customs will have a problem becoz i'm not carrying them on me. i hope. anyways you guys would know better.
thanks.

Hi there azzure,
CONGRATS on ur acceptance for MS program in Bu

Can u tell me whether u took GRE, is it a compulsory requirment to get in to MS programs?

If u don't mind, can I ask to share ur status with us?

I will be gratefull if u can share ur interview experience & general info regarding MS programs.

Thanks in advance
:)

BU doesen't need the NDB for the Masters/Speciality program. All you need is a 2 yr work experience in a good hospital and ok grades from your dental school.
But the only depts u can hope to get into are Prostho, Dental public health, Perio and Restorative dentistry. The rest are not possible without NB pt 1 and are mostly reserved for US citizens.
There is no need for the GRE. I was asked however to do a anterior full jacket crown cutting and also a MOD cavity prep. And interviewed by the Director of the program and Head of Prostho.

Thanks a lot azzure!
So, the 2 yr work experience u were talking abt is from our native country right? but what do u mean by "good hospital" did u work with any specialist for 2 yrs that added weightage to your application:confuse

& also can u tell me when u applied?

sorry for bugging u with too many questions:oops:

just the tuition fees are 40.000. and then housing instruments, insurance etc come upto another 20,000.
when you confirm your admission you have to send them proof that you have 60,000 in your bank account to support yourself even if you plan to live off campus.

hey sorry about writing "good"
i meant and wanted to write Government Hospital. private hospitals are not really onsidered or given any weightage becoz recos can be faked or bought.

Hey, cheer up buddy
The cost of this MS programs is only half the cost compared to the IDP- DDS programs, while u can earn almost the same or even more compared to a general dentist if u r gonna practise in USA:D

a) the tuition i'll pay is 42,000
b) the course is for 4 yrs (comb DPH/ Pros program)
how can that amount to less than the advance standing program?

I guess dentaldoc thought it was 40K tuituion fees for the whole lenght of the program. I thought so too. Also I thought it was only 2 yeas, but 4 :wow: Good luck azzu, that's a long ways! But obvioulsy you're lucky enough, 'cause you managed to get in! That's the important part. :D

wasted 2 yrs of my life getting the work exp. though.
so it wasn't just luck.....hope its worth it though.

having doubts now, if i made the right decision now...like if i should have gone for the Advd standing instead of wasting all that time and now spending all this money

I am sorry that I am unaware of the 4 yrs (comb DPH/ Pros program)

oh man! 42,000x4 = MS DEGREE

that's a whole lot to spend for MS - using which u cannot practise in all states in US & also u cannot practise general dentistry, if I am correct!

Excuse me if I sound pessimistic.

Hey buddy don't worry, come on u didn't waste ur 2 yrs of life infact u should have gained some good clinical experience- which many r lacking (beleive me!)

That's an important thing being a dentist & u have got it & now u r going to be a specialist in which case even when u go back to india(assuming ur an Indian) or ur native country, will sure have it's advantage compared to a DDS degree which u cannot be a specialist .:)

Hi Folks,
Can we practice/get a licensure after doing a MS prostho ?
ie do we get a mass state licence or something?
