so I’ve looked on here and have seen mixed things, but I just found out today that I am not immune to hep b and need to redo the entire series. I did the first one today, scheduled the 2nd shot for ASAP, but there is no way I’d get the 3rd one done by May. Does any one know of/has had any issues with this? I’ve seen some schools are fine as long as it gets finished, but I’ve seen some schools aren’t to keen on that

Why you need to finish series by May?

You do realize that not everyone is accepted before new year's. There is no way they can require from students to get all immunizations done by May. To be completely sure, contact your school. I did my first shot around April, 2nd around May and last one in October during first semester.

I had to redo mine, all I needed done before Matriculation was the first shot, I didn't finish the series/re titers till December of last year.

If one has already taken the series of 3 shots in the past but is not currently immune, isn't a booster shot all that's needed? Why does one need to repeat ent entire 3-shot series?

I had never had the Hep B series before (non-trad, it wasn't required when I was a kid), and had to start the whole thing in February. I submitted what I had done (first two shots) with a note explaining what was going on, and they issued me an extension to do the last shot and titer. It will be August before I can do the 3rd shot and September before I can have titers, after school starts.

I recommend either calling or emailing the school.

They first redo the series; if the person is still not immune boosters shots are then given

No, if you're not immune after two series, you are termed a non responder and you're done

I’ve been getting booster shots after second series from ID specialist

Well, just saying how it is at my school and others :)
It’s how it is in the future too.
I just filled out away rotation applications and it’s the same requirement for all the hospitals in the system. 2 rounds, if they fail then you’re a non-responder
