I couldn't find anything on this in a quick search, so I bring the question to the forum.

The patient was born via IVF using her father's sperm and an unrelated egg donor. The fertilized egg was implanted in the patient's mother. This mother, then, contributed no genetic material to the patient, but did provide the intrauterine environment to the fetus. Does this mother's personal and family psychiatric history matter in our patient's case wrt heritability of psychiatric disorders?

I would be surprised if there's enough patients born from IVF in the first place, who are also of age to have developed a mental illness, to offer any insight into that question at this point in history. There's just not enough people to probably power such a study. In 10 or 20 years, though...
