I'm interested in the forum's consensus: is finding an attendingship with home call likely the exception or the rule? I understand that the OB-aspect really drives the in-house requirement, but I can't decide, given the legal climate in obstetrics, whether more hospitals do have L&D floors than don't. I think any physician who is willing to take in-house call in his 40's and 50's is deserved of his 350K paycheck. Thoughts?

There are so many groups and types of practices, you should be able to find one with no in house call. My group does not take in house call for anything (OB, trauma, etc.). All home call and it is one of the reasons I joined this group. One of my classmates took 20 in house calls in one month, but got paid $1,000-$1,200 per night by the hospital on top of whatever he could collect, so he was happy.
