hI ALL i have a question . If we decide to retake some undergard classes in order to improve our GPA. how do they calculate it. The new grade replace the old one or they just take the average of both.
Please answer me .Thankx

AACOMAS factors in every class you ever took at the college level. If you retake a class to make up for a bad grade, AACOMAS will calculate both grades into your cumulative GPA.

If your still an undergrad and you repeat the course only the new grade is incorporated into your GPA. If you've graduated, then both will be averaged in.

Go with what Smiley says I guess.

If I had known that, I would have looked harder at retaking Organic.

:D

Actually, I think that the repeated grade is the only one factored into your GPA regardless if you have graduated or not. I retook 2 classes after obtaining by degree and only the second grade was counted.

I second what NHM2001 has said - I retook a few classes after I graduated at a different university and only the newer grades were calculated into my GPA by AACOMAS.

Hi all,

I was curious about this same question and e-mailed Mr. Ruiz at AACOMAS to get an official answer. He said that only the most recent grade from a re-taken course is counted in the AACOMAS GPA. However, schools do receive a full transcript which includes ALL of your coursework. In other words, the schools will know that you retook class(es). How they view that is up to them, of course.

Are you guys for certain? I KNOW that the year I applied, I called AACOMAS about this very question, I had heard the "rumor" that AACOMAS only counted the last retake of a course, and was flatly told that no -- EVERYTHING counted. And, what I got my copy of the transmittal what-ever thingie, it was roughly the same GPA I calc'd when I included all of my grades.

No offense to anyone who posts here...but, if anyone is pondering this question -- or any other official policy style queries -- I would defer to the folks themselves --> call AACOMAS and ask them. That way you know for certain.

Now the above is posted with the caveate that I am sure things may/may not have changed since I applied for the entering class of '99.

The emoticon has nothing to do with my reply -- I just thought it was a great one and I anted to use it!

hi oldmandave and all the others,
I just wrote an email to AACOMAS and they told me that only the recent grade is calculated in your GPA .

Is it true that AACOMAS does NOT compute MATH GRADES as part of one's science GPA???????
