What do you think about post op rounds?

I'm getting tired of post op plans by the surgical team. A lot of times they don't make any sense. All they talk about is increase inotropes, decrease pressors, and restrict fluids. Most of the time it is opposite of what I would do.

What do you think of a post op note including a plan (usually opposite of what the surgeons would normally write)? Would that be better than the surgical home concept?

Think about the patient, not politics.

Writing a note is irrelevant. It's who is writing the orders that counts.

The "culture" of the place is what is important. The orders of such culture is what determines the outcome.

My impression is that the surgeons suck at post op management. Can we help change the culture? My experience is that we can. It takes about 2 years in my experience.
