I recently was accepted to an In state New York Medical School (SUNY Downstate), and I'm very interested in Dermatology. That being said, my plan as it stands is to move to Houston or somewhere else in Southeast Texas for Residency. I know it's early for me in the journey as I haven't yet started medical school, but I understand Dermatology is an incredibly competitive field anywhere in the US. I am more than happy to take a gap year during medical school to pursue research and gain connections in Southeast Texas. I have no idea who to reach out to or anyone who has pursued a similar goal. I'm considering attending dermatology conferences in Houston to network or find an advisor. Any advice would be really appreciated.
