How do you dilate?

If you are a current ophthalmology resident using a hospital based EMR system I need your help!
Please let me know how you order/communicate dilation orders to your tech/rn in the EMR you are using and if willing let me know your program.

For me and my weary co-residents: We use Allscripts and have to place medication orders for each drop for each patient separately for dilation to occur unless we place the drops ourselves.

We dilate all ed/consult patient ourselves. Can't be on call without some tropic/phenyl for a little drop drop

we have to place orders unless we do it ourselves. oh the drudgery

Almost never have techs. Dilate them ourselves, stick them in a waiting room, try to see someone else while they dilate.

Sometimes have techs at the VA who dilate if they are sure that's what needs to be done (usually correctly) and they just pop in and ask if they aren't sure.
