How hard is it to land a spot in an early assurance program?

From my point of view, I did extremely well during my first year as an undergrad. Considering most of these programs require you to finish applications by the end of sophomore year, should I take a shot at it? My stats right now are 3.8+ cumulative 3.9+ science. I have 40 hours of shadowing, and I'll have clinical volunteering, non clinical volunteering, and some research at the end of this year.

They are extremely competitive. You normally need a super high GPA (3.9-4.0), great EC's that show you have not been slacking off, and high standardized test scores. If the program does not require the MCAT, you often need a high SAT/ACT to accommodate (2200+ or 33+). I'm not cognizant to the details of individual programs, but I'm sure many want a high school transcript as well, so I'm assuming it would help if you rocked high school.
