Hi all,
Hoping to hear from anyone who has completed forensic psychiatry and/or is practicing forensics, particularly with civil cases.
I am a early career psychiatrist who is thinking about going back to Forensic fellowship. Ultimately, my goal is to do part time clinical and some civil forensic cases on the side.
I love record review, thinking about cases, and writing, however, I do have concerns about if I would enjoy testifying (not the best public speaker). My question is--is it possible to do OP civil work and pick cases where there is a low chance of testifying? I understand that I won't be able to avoid it completely, however, I'm talking about 1-2x a year if I end up doing ~25% OP civil cases of my weekly workload. I heard a great report may save you from having to testify, but I'm assuming that depends on the nature of the case. If it matters, I am interested in:
