Hello,

I'm going to be doing a one month clinical elective in peds derm over the summer (between 1st and 2nd years). What can I do apart from getting a letter of rec to help myself out when it comes time for applications? Is there any way I could get some sort of clinical publication (the person I'm working with doesn't have a lab)? Anything else that might be helpful?

Thanks.

try for a case report or two. they require a little bit of luck (you need interesting patients) and a good literature review. They're usually 2-3 pages at most, and you could definitely get a couple done over the summer.

And also ask your mentor about possible research opportunities with any of his/her colleagues.
