Hygienists in dental school?

Are there any hygienists in SDN who are now dentists or who are currently in dental school? If so, how difficult was it for you to get into dental school, and do you think your dental school experience was a little easier b/c of your dental hygiene training? And do any of you ex-hygienists want to specialize in perio?

Your dental school experience will be much easier if you have previous dental experience of any sort.

As long as you have decent grades and DAT score you can have whatever undergrad degree you want.

Yes, I'm female and a hygienist. And I'm definitely not thinking about specializing in perio- that's why I asked about perio. I was just curious if there were any hygienists who actually wanted to do perio after dental school. It seems to me that it would be boring to go from hygienist to periodontist. Why did you say this:
"are you female? if not, wait until you're in dental school beore you think about specializing."
Are they desperate for female specialists? Or were you just too drunk?

There are a couple of people in my class who just graduated from hygiene and were accepted to join our class late into the first year. Also, anyone with a hygiene degree gets to help teach our Perio block and does not have to take it for a grade or take any exams.
