Hi all I am really trying to find a career that is right for me. I think perhaps becoming an Orthoptist might work. I use a cane and have used a wheelchair in the past it's been so bad. But luckily I have recently gotten better.

So my two main questions are.

1. Out of an 8 hour shift how many hours are spent either standing or walking as an Orthoptist?

2. Do you think this is a field I can work in?

Thanks a million.

You might be able to get better answers from a practicing orthoptist than on this site for optometrists and optometry students. I think that many would like to help you to find a good career match, but most of us here probably aren't too familiar with the day-to-day work of an orthoptist. I would try to find someone in the field to talk about the career and how it might work with your mobility. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope that you find a good career fit!
