Is it worth applying this season (my app is about a day away from being ready), or should I wait and apply to an SMP? If so, how competitive am I? Am I right in thinking that I should only apply to U.S. allopathic this year, and if I don't get in, then apply again next year with osteopathic and intl?

3.2 GPA (both science and cumulative)- upward trend in gpa, had one really bad quarter (winter of freshman year) with an F, 2 C's, and a B.
350 MCAT

1 year volunteer intern at child and adolescent abuse center
4 months volunteering in ecuadorian hospital
fluent in spanish
medical family- father is a pediatric oncologist, mom is a nurse practitioner
teach marine biology at summer camp
taught english in thailand for a summer
musician

Thanks for the feedback....

If you're willing to go DO - and there isn't really much reason you shouldn't be, in my opinion - apply to MD and DO now. There's no reason to burn a year and apply DO next year. When SMP season comes around (Decmber-ish, I guess), start applying to those if you don't have an acceptance yet.

I would apply both MD and DO right now. You have nothing to lose by applying except a few hundred dollars.
