I was curious to know how to use the Illiterate Snellen Eyechart correctly (the one that comes on with the Maxwell pocketbook). How do you tell the patient to report the E? Right, left, up, down? E, 3, M? Should I just get the pocket kindergarden snellen that has objects? I work with a population who has a high illiteracy rate, so I figure I should probably know the least-awkward way to test their eyesight.

... The random crap I think about on a Friday night...

Don't you just have them point their hand in the direction the E faces?
